Spam assassin anti spam protection will perform several tests that will help in determining the spam probability of the mail. Every test gives a score. The sum of each score gives a result, that will determine if the mail is to be considered as a spam or not. If the score is higher than a certain limit, the word "SPAM" will be put in the subject of the message, and you can also enable the auto-deletion of all emails marked as spam.
